Not with the film we use. Interference comes from metalized film, whose metal particles can block signal passing through the glass. Ceramic film is non-metallic, so your phone key, LTE, GPS and Autopilot sensors behave exactly as they did before.
Yes. Model 3, Model Y and Model S glass roofs can all be filmed, and it is one of the highest-impact panels on the car — it is the single biggest piece of glass taking direct overhead sun. Tesla's factory glass already blocks some infrared, but adding ceramic film makes a noticeable difference in a Modesto summer.
Yes, and we have done enough of them to have the process settled. It is the largest single piece of glass fitted to any production vehicle and it is steeply raked, which turns it into an enormous solar collector aimed at the front seats. Plenty of shops decline it; it is one of our signature jobs.
The same rules apply as any other vehicle: front side windows must transmit more than 70% of light, the windshield takes only a 4-inch strip at the top, and the rear sides and back glass can be any darkness. Most Tesla owners run a legal clear ceramic up front and go darker behind.
